Before you SKATE

Step 1

CLUB Registration

Is this your first time skating with BIG ROCK SKATING CLUB (BRSC)?

If so, please complete a CLUB REGISTRATION form for each participant so that we have a detailed understanding of how we can support you as a skater at BRSC. Following initial registration, a member of our club will be in touch to ensure participant questions are answered and/or recommendations from our Head Coach are discussed prior to SESSION REGISTRATION.

If you’ve submitted a form and we’ve had a chat, carry on!

Step 2

Session registration

You’ve completed your CLUB REGISTRATION form and you’ve connected with a member of BRSC to discuss your skating goals - now you can register for skating sessions with Big Rock Skating Club!

If you have questions about our programming, or you’re not sure which sessions are appropriate for your skating abilities, please EMAIL US so that we can support you through the registration process.

NEW sessions will be released seasonally and members will be notified by email when registration opens.

Step 3

Review BRSC FAQs

Following SESSION REGISTRATION, please review our Figure Skating FAQS listed at the bottom of this page.

It’s important that you understand our expectations and policies, and respectfully adhere to them on and off the ice.

FAQs

  • Please arrive 15–30 minutes before your scheduled ice time to ensure you are fully prepared and ready rink-side when the session begins. This allows time for proper warm-up, equipment check, and dressing.

  • Proper skating attire must be worn at all times.  Proper attire includes appropriate athletic wear such as skating dresses/skirts, tights and/or leggings, figure skating pants, fitted tops/sweaters and waist-length jackets. Pajamas, track pants with elasticized ankles, jeans or other denim-cut pants are not permitted. Offensive language or graphics on apparel won’t be tolerated. Long hair is tied back and hair must be kept off the face. Coaches have the right to dismiss skaters from the ice if the dress code isn’t adhered to.

  • Skater development is structured and led based on individual development needs determined by our BRSC Head Coach, Barb Westhaver. A request to discuss skater development can be made following skating sessions. Coaches shouldn’t be approached during sessions as their time is dedicated to the on-ice skaters and lesson plans.

  • Please email info.bigrocksc@gmail.com with as much notice as possible, so coaches can adjust their lesson plans accordingly. Refunds will not be processed for missed sessions, as you’re reserving a limited spot at the time of registration.
