Barb Westhaver

BRSC HEAD COACH | NATIONAL CERTIFIED

With over 40 years of coaching experience, Barb brings a wealth of knowledge, passion, and dedication to figure skating. A National Certified Coach through Skate Canada and the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC), she has successfully guided skaters from grassroots development to national-level competition.

As a highly credentialed professional, Barb has completed her Gold Dance, Senior Silver Freeskate, and 6th Figure/Skating Skills, and competed at the Pre-Novice Competitive Pairs level, bringing a broad and well-rounded perspective to athlete development.

In addition to coaching, she is a certified STAR 6-Gold Skills Assessor, Mentor Coach, and Coach Assessor. Her mentorship extends to both skaters and fellow coaches, playing a key role in shaping the next generation of figure skating professionals.

Throughout her career, Barb has coached and trained numerous Provincial medalists and National competitors across both the Podium Pathway and STARSkate streams. Her commitment to excellence and individualized athlete growth makes her a valued and respected member of the skating community.

Liat Kobetitch

BRSC COACH | NATIONAL CERTIFIED

Liat is a National Certified Coach through Skate Canada and the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) with over 40 years of experience developing figure skaters at every level—from beginners to provincial and national-level athletes. Her coaching has helped skaters achieve podium success in both the STARSkate program and on the Podium Pathway, with a focus on technical excellence, performance quality, and athlete development.

As a former high-level skater herself, Liat holds top certifications in both Canadian and British figure skating. Her Canadian achievements include Gold Figure, 6th Figure/Skating Skills, Gold Freeskate, Gold Dance, Dance Variation, and Bronze Artistic. She also holds Inter-Silver credentials in both Freeskate and Figures from the British skating system.

Liat is a STAR 6–Gold Skills Mentor Coach and Coach Assessor, and a graduate of both Provincial and National Coach Apprenticeships. Her commitment to continued education is reflected in her academic background, which includes a Coaching Diploma from Seneca College in Ontario.

Known for her dedication and deep knowledge of the sport, Liat creates a positive, high-performance environment where skaters are encouraged to reach their full potential.

Jada dueck

BRSC COACH | REGIONAL TRAINED

Jada is an enthusiastic and skilled StarSkate coach who blends competitive excellence with a passion for mentorship. A Quad Gold achievement holder, Jada has competed at the national level in synchronized skating and in Star 9–10 and Pre-Novice singles, giving her a comprehensive and detailed understanding of the sport.

With two years of coaching experience, Jada is trained as a Regional Coach and CanSkate Coach, and serves as a Star 1–5 assessor, guiding skaters through foundational development with care and precision.

Jada is known for creating an encouraging and focused training environment where skaters feel empowered to build their skills, challenge themselves, and celebrate their growth. She’s a valued member of our community.

LINDSEY LORD

GUEST COACH | REGIONAL CERTIFIED

With over a decade of coaching experience, including 10 years working with world-level Special Olympics athletes, Lindsey brings both elite, competitive insight and inclusive coaching expertise to the team. As a Regional Certified Coach, Canskate Coach, and Special Olympics Coach, Lindsey is passionate about developing strong, confident athletes at every stage of their skating journey.

As a former high-performance skater, she trained at the prestigious Mariposa Training Center with renowned coaches Doug Lee, Robert Tebby, Jeff Buttle, and others. Lindsey’s competitive highlights include titles such as Pre-Novice Champion of Nova Scotia and Novice Champion of Alberta, along with podium achievements at Octoberfest, Liberty Skate Philadelphia, and Alberta Sectionals. She is a proud Quad Gold skater and former performer in the Calgary Stampede Enmax Ice Show.

Lindsey focuses on building technically strong skaters with a resilient mindset—sharing lessons learned from years of competitive success and elite mentorship.
